Banatrol Plus with Bimuno Prebiotic

Typically used for but not limited to diarrhea associated with: • Tube feeding • Infection Diarrhea- Clostridium difficile (CDI), salmonella • Medication induced diarrhea • Antibiotics • Inflammatory bowel disease • Irritiable Bowel Syndrom (IBS) Banatrol Plus™ is high in pectin, a soluble fiber that acts through absorption to reduce watery diarrhea to promote normalization of colon fluid composition. Soluble fiber is gel-like and helps thicken stool consistency but does not promote hard stools and does not slow gut motility. Each dose of Banatrol Plus contains 2.75 grams of Bimuno, a prebiotic Trans-galactooligosaccharide which is a food source for the beneficial bacteria that reside in the colon or gut. It is not destroyed or digested in the stomach or the small intestine so it reaches the colon where it feeds the bacteria. Because of its special patented process, the prebiotic trans-galactooligosaccharide is a uniquely sized molecule which can be digested directly by only the 'good' bacteria in the gut. Other prebiotics must be broken down enzymatically making it available to both good and harmful bacteria. The growth of good bacteria proliferates at a much faster rate than the harmful bacteria which become displaced, thus helping to restore normal gut flora. Dosing Oral: 1 pack of Banatrol Plus™ TID (three times daily). Mix in 120 mL of water or fruit juices or moist foods such as applesauce, yogurt or pudding. Banatrol Plus is not a medicine but a medical food. Depending on the type and severity of the diarrhea it may take up to five days for complete effect. Feeding Tube: 1 pack of Banatrol Plus TID, every 6 to 8 hours of feeding. Mix with 90-120 mL of water and administer with flushes directly down the feeding tube. Do not mix Banatrol Plus with tube feeding formula as it will thicken and potentially clog the feeding tube. Mix with water and give with tube flushes. For C. Diff infection (CDI): Banatrol Plus augments antibiotic therapy and does not inhibit gut motility. Banatrol Plus acts to absorb and trap C diff toxins by reducing the bacterial load with stool elimination. Unlike anti-diarrheal medications, Banatrol Plus can be started immediately while waiting stool test results for suspected C. diff infection. Not for Parenteral Use
